Robert W. Locke

Robert W. Locke, 83 of Glastonbury, former longtime resident of Manchester, CT, loving husband for 57 years of Marjorie (Adams) Locke, died Monday, February 27, 2017 at Manchester Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Bob was born in Salem, MA on November 28, 1933, son of Roger P. and Marguerite Pauline (Witham) Locke. He was raised in Salem, served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and was a graduate of Boston University and the University of Hartford. He came to Manchester in 1961 and moved to Glastonbury six months ago. Prior to retiring in 1991 Bob was employed at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company for thirty years.
He was a longtime member of the Second Congregational Church of Manchester and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, having attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and served as a Scout Troop Leader. He was a longtime member and past Master of Masonic Lodge #73 of Manchester, and played the clarinet in the Sphinx Shrine Band.
Along with his wife, Bob is survived by three children, David A. Locke and his wife Janet of Watertown, CT, Jennifer L. Berkenstock and her husband Richard of East Hampton, CT, Janet L. Bishop and her husband Kenneth of Marlborough, CT, and six grandchildren, Sarah, Michelle, and Adam Berkenstock, Valerie and Julia Locke, and Anna Gott. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Locke.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 3, at 11:00 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester with burial to follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours are Thursday, March 2, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396, or the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
