Robert P. Halloran

Robert Patrick Halloran, 67, of Vernon, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1954 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Joseph and Lenore (O'Hara) Halloran, and grew up in Manchester. Bobby, born third of seven Halloran children, had special needs with his mental disability handicap. Our mom would declare, "Bobbys life was altered, but we believe he had a special mission. Gods ways are not our ways." We believe he had a special mission too. He taught our entire family how to be humble, and how to love and have compassion for those around us. He was a happy "kid" that brought so much joy to our familyand he loved his family. He loved music, cowboys & Indians, parades, coffee and $1 bills that he would proudly put in his wallet. He especially loved all things John Wayne, Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Zorro& Santa Claus, of course! His 2 favorite days of the year were his birthday and Christmas. He loved getting presents on those days, along with the family sing-alongs accompanying the Halloran 'band.' If you were to ask him how old he was, he would always reply "10!" Take Bobby for a nice car ride, turn on the radio, play anything from the Beach Boys to John Philip Sousa marches to Christmas songs, incorporate Dunkin' Donuts, and you'd have a new best friend! The world would be a better place if everyone was lucky enough to have a Bobby in their life. He is survived by his five siblings and their spouses: James and Paula Halloran of Charlestown, RI, Jean (Halloran) and Stephen Pac of Chester, Kathleen (Halloran) and John Boryczki of Manchester, Daniel and Karen Halloran of Meriden, and Elizabeth (Halloran) and Edward Roach of Margate, NJ; seven nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Davis) Brancieri, Jeffrey Davis, Emily, Julianne, and Jessica Boryczki, and twins Eileen and Bridget Roach; five great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Mary Ann (Halloran) and Michael Davis, and many aunts and uncles, including his beloved Uncle Bob and Aunt Shirley. The family would like to thank the team at his Baker Road group home in Vernon that took exceptional care of him over the years, as well as his caring doctors and staff at Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital. A special thank you to Josh, Kim, Ruby, Alyssa, Tracy, and Carol who were our angels at the group home. We would also like to thank our sister, Kathy ("Kick"), who served as his guardian after our parents passed, always advocating and being there for him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St. in Manchester on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 10:00am followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MARCH Inc. of Manchester, 222 McKee St. Manchester, CT 06040.
