Robert Louis Baran

Robert Louis Baran, 60, of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Plymouth CT, beloved husband of 38 years to Ann (Akmentin) Baran passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born on December 21, 1953 in Hartford, CT son of the late Louis R. and Claire (Hermann) Baran. He was raised in East Hartford, attended local schools and was a graduate of Penney High School, Class of 1971. Bob earned his Associate Degree from the former Hartford State Technical College in Connecticut. Prior to leaving work due to his illness, Bob was employed as a Continuous Improvement Specialist and Project Engineer for T.E. Connectivity for over 20 years. He was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Greensboro. Bob had many interests and truly enjoyed carpentry, landscaping, music and machine design. He loved hiking the many trails throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains. Two of his favorites were the Tanawha Trail and the Mountain to Sea Trail. In addition to his loving wife Ann, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Audrey Baran of Charlotte, NC a daughter, Sandra Baran of Raleigh, NC, a brother and sister-in-law, John and Leanne Baran of Marlborough, his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Thomas Owsiany of Shelton and Barbara and Gary Winick of Suffield and several nieces, nephews and grandnephews. In addition to his parents Bob was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Baran. Calling hours will held on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 10 am -12 pm at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St. Manchester with a service to begin at 12 pm at the funeral home.
