It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Richie) P. Romano on March 27, 2026, from a prolonged illness at the age of 79 years old. Richie passed away peacefully while in hospice care near his home in Tomball, Texas. Born in Hartford, CT on August 18, 1946, Richie attended schools in both Hartford and Manchester, CT, graduating from Manchester High School in 1964. Prior to moving to Tomball, TX in 2008, Richie was a long-time resident of Manchester, CT.

Richie was a proud veteran of the Unites States Air Force, serving out of Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio and while on a tour of duty in the Philippines. He was a long-time, dedicated and hard-working employee of Bogner Quality Meats company located in Manchester. He was a huge sports fan, rooting mainly for his two favorite teams, the New York Yankees and the Miami Dolphins. While in the Air Force, Richie was recognized as a prominent home run hitter on his fast pitch softball team. After returning to Manchester, he continued his competitive spirit by playing for many years in the local men's softball leagues Richie also had a special love for dogs and cherished the companionship of his beloved pets—Sassie, Kodi, KC, Kori, and Kallie—throughout the years.

He is survived by his beloved wife Joan Romano (Beaulieu), step-daughter Leanne Noble, who spent countless hours helping to look after Richie while he was ill, son Jason Romano (North Carolina), sisters Paula Burke and Lori Krewalk and her husband Kenny, and his brother David and wife Beverly. Coming from a large family, he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and long-time friends Karen and Calvin Hutchinson. Richie was predeceased by his parents Paul and Grace, brothers Robert and Donald and his wife Mary, and brother-in-law Bruce Burke.

Relatives and friends of Richie are invited to attend a grave side service, including military honors on Monday August 10, 2026, at 11 am at East Cemetery in Manchester, CT.
