Richard E. Martin

Richard Edward Martin, 78 of Bolton, formerly of Manchester, loving husband for fifty years of Marjorie A. (Reid) Martin, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford after a short illness.
He was born in Manchester, CT on November 27, 1937, son of Alexander W. and Helen (Liska) Martin, and was raised in Manchester, attending local schools. He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958, and had owned and operated Richard E. Martin Painting for thirty five years before retiring.
Richard had several interests and was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed his time in the Navy, fishing, and looked forward to family gatherings.
With his wife, he leaves his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Reid Martin, Sara Hickley, and Stella Martin, all of Marietta, GA; his two sisters, Josephine Genovesi of Manchester and Jean Panciera of Hamden, MA; his sister-in-law, Peggy Reid of Tolland, and many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by five siblings, Geraldine Picchioni, Alex William Martin, Donald Martin, Robert Martin, and Carol Mullen.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 20, at 3:00 PM at the Second Congregational Church of Manchester, 385 North Main Street, with a visiting time to begin at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bolton Volunteer Fire Dept., 168 Bolton Center Road, Bolton, CT 06043 or the National Stroke Assoc., 9707 Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112.
