In the early morning of July 3, 2015, Renaud George "Reno" Parent passed away unexpectedly at the Windham Community Hospital in Willimantic.
Reno was born on September 10, 1952 in Hartford. He is predeceased by his parents, Renaud S. and Marie (Boutot) Parent, and by his beloved daughter, Casey Lynn Parent. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Laurie (Hill) Parent, his son and very best friend, Christopher Parent and his longtime partner Rebecca Boulet; three grandchildren, Amanda, Sharon, and Caitlin Boulet, his sister Annette Gerber, his niece Shaina Forsberg and her husband Alan, his nephew Adam Gerber, his sister Susan Lane and her husband Jeff, as well as extended family in the U.S. and Canada, and countless close friends.
Reno was raised in Hartford and has been a resident in Coventry since 1993. He was employed by the State of CT. Dept. of Social Services for over 25 years before retiring, and was also a former employee at the Hartford Civic Center and the New Britain Rock Cats ballpark.
As a retiree Reno had many special interests including playing in a pool league with his close friends, first with the Whiskey Shooters, and more recently with the Sons of APA. He was a die-hard fan of NASCAR (specifically Tony Stewart) and was able to live his dream with a trip to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Daytona 500. Reno was also an avid UCONN football fan who enjoyed tailgating and cheering on his Huskies. Reno was an incredible husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who love him so dearly.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 7, at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester from 4 PM to 7 PM, to be followed by a memorial service and remembrances to be shared. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
