Raymond W. Luce, 75 of Tolland, formerly of Manchester, husband for fifty-one years of Linda (Reichenbach) Luce, died at home on Saturday, August 1, 2015.
Ray was born in Manchester on March 17, 1940, son of the late Charles R. and Ruby (Adams) Luce. He attended Manchester schools and served in Germany in the late 1950's in the Army. He started working at his father's business, the former Charlie's Service Station in Manchester, at age seventeen, and since 1975 has been the proud owner and operator of Charlie's Towing Service in Manchester. Ray has been a member of AA for the past thirty-nine years and enjoyed NASCAR racing.
With his loving wife, he is survived by two sons, Raymond C. Luce of Coventry and Jeffrey Luce and his wife Peggy of Vernon; his grandson, Maximilian; two brothers and a sister, Charles J. Luce and his wife Judy of Tolland, Robin J. Luce of Tolland, and Donna Gottier and her husband Carl of Amsterdam, NY; his sister-in-law, Susan Luce of Tolland , and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Ray was predeceased by a brother, James F. Luce.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 7, at 9:30 AM in the East Cemetery (corner of Harrison and Bissell Streets) in Manchester. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Thursday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
