Raymond H. Jenack, 98, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Mae E. (Elliott) Jenack and father of the late Raymond P. Jenack passed away peacefully Friday, March 2, 2018 at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. Raymond was born in Willimantic, May 1, 1919, son of the late Peter and Victoria (Sokolowski) Jenack. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force, including, 33 missions with the 8th Air Force 447th Group as radio operator and waist gunner, which qualified him to be a proud member of the Lucky Bastard's Club. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester. Prior to retiring, he worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford for 44 years. In years past, he enjoyed summers at his Cape Cod home where he pursued his love of fishing on Cape Cod Canal.
Raymond is survived by his son, Michael J. "Mick" Jenack of Westbrook, Carolyn Paris Massaro of Essex, a niece, Donna Ciaglo and a nephew, John Ciaglo. In addition to his wife and son, he was predeceased by his nephew, Bruce Jenack. A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Aaron Manor, Chester, CT, and especially to his close friend and roommate, Billy and to his dear friend, Dorothy.
A graveside burial service with military honors will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11am in East Cemetery 240 East Center Street (Section J-1 Veterans) Manchester. Please use Autumn Street entrance. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
