Peter James Barnett

June 15, 1964 — June 4, 2024

Peter J. Barnett, a lifelong resident of Manchester, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024, just shy of his 60th birthday. Born on June 15, 1964, in Manchester, he lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by his loving family and the people he deeply loved.
Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Doreen, and their two sons, Bryan and Tyler, who were his pride and joy. His legacy continues through his beloved granddaughter, Marlowe, who was the light of his life. He also leaves behind his brothers, Kevin, Donny and his wife Pam, his sister, Cheryl and her husband Bill Doll, Paul and his wife Sue, David and his wife Laura. He also left behind his mother-in-law Lorraine Breen, sister-in-law Rachel Breen, and his many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews. Peter also leaves behind his close friends Jodi, Jay, Limey, and Gary.
Peter is predeceased by his loving mother and father, Carol and Donald as well as his brother in-law and partner in crime, Brian Breen.
Peter's heart was as big as his personality. He never shied away from giving his loved ones a hard time, but it was always done with a twinkle in his eye and love in his heart. His pleasures were simple: family gatherings, an ice-cold cooler on a hot day, and the smooth taste of a little JD. These simple joys were the fabric of his everyday life, and he cherished each moment spent with his family and friends.
As someone who understood the importance of fully enjoying life, Peter lived by the words of Anthony Bourdain, "Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o'clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you've never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride."
Peter's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire us. His laughter, his wise cracks, and the memories of the good times will be carried in the hearts of those he touched.
In his journey through life, Peter taught those around him the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the ability to find humor in everyday. His life was a testament to the impact one person can have through simple acts of kindness, a listening ear, and a commitment to the well-being of his family.
We bid farewell to Peter J. Barnett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His memory will live on as a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Peter; your legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family will never be forgotten.
