Pearl Minch 96, beloved wife of the late Edwin Minch passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022. Pearl was the daughter of the late Joseph and Henrietta (Sloane) Binks and was born in Manchester on May 31,1926. She lived in Manchester all of her life except for three years spent in Jupiter, Florida in the late 1970s. She excelled in school and sports and graduated from Manchester High School in 1944. Shortly after she was fortunate enough to get accepted into a intensive Engineering Aide program at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. She graduated from the program and was a Engineering Aide for 16 years in a job she truly loved. She enjoyed all sports, including skiing and played golf all of her life. She met her future husband while at Pratt and was married in 1961. She taught confirmation classes and christmas pageants for 6 years under the direction of the late Rev. Alfred Williams at St. Marys Episcopal Church in Manchester. After her husband retired they were fortunate enough to take several trips including Europe, Ireland, and the Pacific Northwest and not to mention the annual trip to Cape Cod, Mass which in later years she visited her special friends Ed and Sandi ODonnell. Pearl lived every moment to the fullest. While a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church she was a Eucharistic visiter giving holy communion to parish shutins going as far as Willamantic. With her irish wit and ready smile she was always a welcomed visitor. She also loved to cook and try new recipes and had over 100 cookbooks in her possession. She once said she thought her role in life was to be a caretaker for people. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin and brother Victor J. Binks as well as a sister in law Marguerita (Jarvis) Binks and nephew Ronald L. Binks. She is survived by two sons, David R. Minch of Ellington and Robert J. Minch of Manchester. She is also survived by Niece Victoria Binks and her partner Denny Kaba of Stafford Springs. Niece Bonnie Barile and her husband Gary of South Windsor. Niece Lori Boardman and her husband Jack of Morresville N.C. Nephew Joe Binks and his partner Harry Caprilozzi of Norwich. Niece Cheryl Bolduc and her significant other of Enfield. Nephew Larry Vanmeter and his wife Peg of Greenwich, N.J. Niece Janice Stavenick and her husband Ed of Westfield, N.J. Niece Gretchen Rector and her husband Wayne of Moorestown, N.J. She also leaves many special grand nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Lori and Bonnie for their help and support and also to Denise Johansen for her many games of Rummikub with Pearl and to Linda Halski who went with Pearl to many church fairs and other events. Her family will receive friends on Monday, December 5th from 4-7PM at the Holmes Watkins Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 6th 10AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Cemetery in Manchester. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 ST Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
