Paul W. Dougan Jr.

A Burial Service for Paul W. Dougan, Jr., will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 11:00 am at East Cemetery, Manchester, CT. Paul Worthington Dougan, Jr., 82, of Manchester, CT and Stockbridge, VT, died unexpectedly of heart failure on December 12, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital. Born April 26, 1938 to Paul and Anna Dougan, he grew up in Manchester, CT and graduated from Manchester High School in 1957. He entered the U.S. Army, serving in SETAF, Verona, Italy. He was a member of the All-Army Rifle Team and received the Distinguished Rifleman Gold Medal. In 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline, raised three sons, and was a beloved grandfather. Paul was a Realtor in Manchester and served as President of the Manchester Board of Realtors in 1980. He was a co-owner of Norton Electric and ended his career at TD Bank. Paul spent much of his time in Vermont at his log cabin, fishing and hunting with his boys and a colorful group of friends. In his retirement, he built a post and beam barn, where he liked to putter and collect and restore various antiques. Paul and Jackie enjoyed traveling in their RV to all the states in the U.S. Paul is dearly missed by Jacqueline, his wife of 61 years, and his three sons, Kevin and wife Ellen of Manchester, Kurt and wife Christine of Barkhamsted, and Kenneth of Manchester; his beloved grandchildren, Maureen and husband Niall Shanahan of Lawrence, MA, Jaclyn and fiance Jeff Veneziano of Wethersfield, Paul and wife Amy of Manchester, Russell and wife Ali of Townsend, MA, Maxwell and wife Jessica of Manchester, Nick of Manchester, and Maggie of Barkhamsted. He is also survived by his sister Jean Murphy of Tucson, AZ; his brothers, Robert and wife Sheila of Ashford, Glenn and wife Doreen of Bethany; two nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Alec Dougan, and his sister, Barbara Vignone. A virtual tribute will be web cast from Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at East Cemetery in Manchester, CT at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local food bank, the CT chapter of Cake 4 Kids, or Ronald McDonald House.
