Paul F. Berg of Manchester, CT died on September 13, 2025. He was born to Swedish Immigrant parents Carl A. and Elsa (Anderson) Berg on August 1, 1937, in Barron Wisconsin. After Elsa passed away when Paul was 3 months old, he was adopted by Carl’s sister Lisa Berg and raised in Scituate, Massachusetts.

Graduated from Scituate High School in 1955, Graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1960. He received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut in 1970. Employed as an engineer at various divisions of United Technologies Corp. for 44 years, retiring in 2004. During those years Paul enjoyed contributions to the development of military and commercial jet engines and commercial and aerospace applications. Among these were the Apollo manned Lunar landing and U.S. Space shuttle manned obiter programs.

Paul was a registered professional engineer in Connecticut and held a private pilot’s license with instrument rating. Paul had great enthusiasm for a lifetime of learning, taking courses in a wide variety of subjects ranging from philosophy of religion to material science, as testified by a collection of completion certificates and instructional videos. He looked forward to many summers spending a week back at his alma mater, MIT, immersed in a concentrated course in some new- to- his subjects. Trips to Northern and Southern Europe, the Holy Land, the Soviet Union, Asia and South America were among his most valued learning experiences.

Predeceased by his dear companion, Betty Ann Johnson. Survived by sister Ruth Dunt of Elgin, Illinois, brother Ron Berg of Barron Wisconsin, and sister Ingrid Berg of Wisconsin. Also, niece Kimberly Alvarado and nephew David Dunt of Illinois, plus cousins in the United States and Sweden. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Manchester, CT, First Baptist Church, Scituate, Mass, Hartford Ever Green #88 Lodge AF + AM South Windsor, CT and Mit Club of Hartford, Vasa order of America.

Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd at Holmes Watkins Funeral Home, located at 400 Main Street, Manchester CT, from 5:30pm till 7:30pm. Paul will be laid to rest at Groveland Cemetery in North Scituate, MA. In lieu of Flowers, please made donation in Paul’s honor to The American Parkinsons Disease Association or the charity of your choice.
