Nellie M. (Kovis) Broderick, 94, of Manchester, beloved wife for 50 years of the late Joseph Broderick, died unexpectedly, Tuesday December 29, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Nellie was born January 15, 1921 in Manchester, daughter if the late Thomas & Mary (Rucekuti) Kovis, she attended local schools, graduated from Manchester High School with the Class of 1939-A and has been a lifelong resident. Nellie was a communicant of St. James Church in Manchester and prior to her retirement in 1967 she had worked as an assembler with Aerohart for more than 25 years. She enjoyed Duck Pin bowling, playing BINGO, going to the casinos with her husband, watching UConn Woman's basketball and she was an expert in needlework.
She was a sweet, caring, loving wonderful woman in the life of her god daughter, Betty E. Anderson of Binghamton, NY. she is also survived by her nephew, Robert Vrecenak of Bolton and her sister-in-law Mary Blazinski and her husband Joseph of Manchester. She was predeceased by her brother Edward Kovis. Nellie's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and her new friends at the Village at Buckland Court, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at the St. Francis Hospital ICU for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 7, 2016 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester has care of arrangements.
