Neale O. Mclain

The Rev. Neale Owen McLain, 93, of Manchester, CT, passed away peacefully in his sleep on
Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Neale was born in Johnson City, NY on January 9, 1925, to the late Bernice and Ivan McLain. While serving as a Bombardier/Navigator in the Army Air Force during World War II, Neale married his lifelong neighbor and sweetheart, Gladys Anne Lewis. They were married for 69 years, before her death in 2014. On the G.I. bill, Neale attended Eastern Nazarene College and earned a BA with a major in Philosophy.

Neale pastored churches in St. Albans, VT; Fairfield, ME, Cambridge, MA, Dover, NJ, and
Manchester, CT. After serving as Pastor of Manchester Church of the Nazarene for nine years, he was elected as Superintendent of the New England District Church of the Nazarene in 1984.
Throughout his many years in ministry and in his personal life, Neale was known as a visionary leader and a faithful man of God, who invested in the lives of all who were privileged to know him. He was instrumental, along with his wife Gladys, in the founding of the Cornerstone Christian School in Manchester CT. Neale also led the effort to build the Windsor Hills Camp and Retreat Center in Windsor, New Hampshire.

Neale was predeceased by his wife Gladys Anne, his son Kevin Neale, and brother Col. Roy McLain. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Martin G., and daughters-in-law Linda and
Robin McLain, and his six grandchildren Lindsey (Dan) Lerro, Stephanie (Joseph) Commisso, Ian (Emily) McLain, Ryan (Jamie) McLain, Kristie (Josh) Lojzim and Cameron McLain. Neale will also be fondly remembered by his five great-grandchildren, his brothers Gerald (Susan) McLain and Alan (Lucille) McLain and their families.

A Memorial Service, celebrating Neale's life, will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00am, at Manchester Church of the Nazarene, 218 Main Street, Manchester, CT 06042.
