Milton W. Smith Jr., 82, of Manchester, beloved husband of Sylvia A. (Gilbar) Smith, died peacefully, Friday August 15, 2014 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born January 25, 1932 in Granville, NY., son of the late Milton W. Smith Sr. and Maybelle (Teakle) Smith and has been a resident of Manchester for most of his life. Milt was a U. S. Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean War, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football, the Giants & Patriots. He retired in 1985 as a Dispatcher with Dunbar Armored Car after more than 30 years with the company. In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Steven D. Smith and his wife Maryanne of South Carolina, Corinne M. Crosby of Manchester, Walter A. Smith also of Manchester, Milton W. Smith III and his wife Melissa of Indiana, four grandchildren, Diane Crosby of Glastonbury, Rachel Crosby of New Britain, Samantha Smith of Manchester and David Smith of Coventry and four great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother Walter A. Smith of Vermont, three sisters, Mabel Smith of Pawcatuck, Martha Zito of Wethersfield, Geraldine Woodruff and her husband Paul of Vermont and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday August 21, 2014 in the Buckland Cemetery in Manchester.
