Mildred E. Christadore

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred Christadore on September 27, 2024 at the age of 97.
Millie was born on November 25, 1926, in White Plains, New York. She was a dedicated and loving wife for 66 years to her late husband Jack Christadore, and a devoted mother to her two daughters, Jaclyn and Jan.
Millie is survived by her daughter Jaclyn Petrizzo, her three granddaughters Kim Boulette (Warren) of Vernon, CT; Dacia Marszalek (Paul) of Clinton, CT; and Lisa Perrault (Rick) of Warwick, RI. She also has five great-grandchildren; Nathan and Kelsey Boulette, Ryan and David Marszalek, and Lexi Perrault. Millie was pre-deceased by her daughter Jan Bienkowski (Ray); her son-in-law Ed Petrizzo, her sister Nancy Burhans, and her brother Frank Harris. She leaves behind many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Millie was a member of the first graduating class at Willimantic State Teachers College in 1948. After graduation she began her career teaching 1st grade at Andover Elementary school. When the family moved to Manchester, she taught 1st grade at Waddell Elementary School, and pursued her Masters Degree. Earning an award of appreciation for 20 years of service to Manchester Public Schools, she helped shape the lives of young boys and girls for a total of 28 years.Millie was an active member of the Eastern Connecticut State University (formerly Willimantic State Teachers College) Alumni Association and in 1998 celebrated her 50 Year Jubilee Reunion with her longtime friends.

Millie was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Vernon for over 40 years. In their retirement years, she and Jack volunteered thousands of hours at Rockville Hospital, they loved square dancing and bowling. Millie enjoyed many activities including watching the New York Mets and UCONN basketball and she loved cross country travel with her sister and brother-in-law. They enjoyed playing pinochle with friends and family, antiquing, and were enthusiastic fans of horse racing. She absolutely loved spending time with her sister Nancy. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate milkshakes were favorites.
Millie was an independent, kind and generous soul, always putting others' needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 1st at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester from 9 AM to 11 AM followed by Funeral services at 11:30 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 523 Hartford Tnpk., Vernon. Burial will be at Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon, CT immediately afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org .
Rest in peace, Millie. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
