Michael Kerry Turkington, passed away on July 28, 2022, at the age of 71. He lived most of his life in Manchester, CT. He was a 1968 graduate of Manchester High School and a swim team member. Most recently residing in Higganum with his son Chris and his family after a long stretch of heart disease. He was born November 18, 1950, to Alan and Patricia (Boucher) Turkington, the middle of five boys, Stephen, David, John (predeceased), and James. He married Cathy Morrison Turkington in Plattsburgh, NY, on August 14, 1971. Where he was stationed while serving in the air force, he did a tour of duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After, he returned to his beloved home in Manchester and began working at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. He worked his way through the ranks and became an engineer. He spent 30 years there and was awarded seven patents for his innovative ideas working in the foundry.
Michael had two sons, Christopher and Matthew. Christopher and his wife Connie have four children, Victoria (Tori), Michael, and twins Hunter and Hope. Matthew, who predeceased Michael after a long battle with ALS in 2020, was married to Kelly and had two children, Cole and Layla.
Michael loved tinkering with all kinds of ideas, but he especially loved working on his 1967 Ford Mustang. He enjoyed spending time on the boat and traveling with his brother David, especially on their road trip to Alaska. He also loved reminiscing with his long-time friend Tim Hoops about their adventures while living on Spring Street in Manchester.
Services for Michael will be graveside at 2:00pm Friday Aug.12th at East Cemetery in Manchester. Following the services, a celebration of his life will be held in Higganum at Chris and Connies home.
