Obituary

Michael Lee Gohla, 80, of Manchester, CT passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026 with family by his side.

Despite ongoing medical challenges, Mike lived his life joyfully. He was one of six siblings born in Minnesota to the late Pearl and Gerald Gohla. Mike graduated from Rockhurst University, followed by serving in the United States Air Force. After marrying his wife, Carol, they settled in Manchester, Connecticut where Mike completed his career working at the Hartford Insurance Company.

After his retirement, Mike spent many years volunteering at Manchester Memorial Hospital helping where and however he could. Aside from his work as a volunteer, PopPop derived delightful joy in helping to care for his young grandchildren. Mike also enjoyed time at home with his loving family, reading, watching Minnesota sports teams, and cheering on UCONN basketball. Throughout the years, Mike relished trips to Rhode Island to visit with relatives, especially Jack and Linda Rodolewicz. His trips back to Minnesota also provided Mike with fond memories he reveled in making while on family vacations at the cabin on Lake Francis.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Carol, of 57 years, his son Nathaniel, his wife Bridget, and their children Avery and Jonas, daughter-in-law Kimberly and her children, Rachel and Hayley, siblings Patricia, Steve, Brad, Tom, and Ann, as well as numerous other close extended family.

Mike is predeceased by his parents, and his beloved son, Ryan.

Family welcomes friends to Call on Friday, September 11, 2026 at St. Bartholomew Church, 45 Ludlow Road, Manchester, CT from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.  A Christian Mass will then be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by burial at East Cemetery, 220 East Center Street, Manchester, CT.  To leave on-line condolences, please visit www.holmeswatkins.com.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mike's name to Boy Scout Troop 25, 11 Center Street, Manchester, CT 06040.
