Michael L. Getzewich

August 9, 1949 — January 4, 2018

Michael Getzewich, age 68, of South Windsor, CT passed away on January 4, 2018, after complications from multiple sclerosis (MS). He graduated from Manchester High School in 1967, and was married in 1968, which later ended in divorce.

Michael worked at the JCPenney Distribution Center in South Windsor for many years. He enjoyed travel to tropical destinations, like Honolulu and islands in the Caribbean. High-performance sports cars and boats were a passion of his, and he also enjoyed reading, local theater and learning about computer programming.

As illness impacted his once active lifestyle, he increased his activity on social media and started blogging. Labeling himself as a "conservative independent," he frequently engaged in political commentary and debate.

Michael is survived by his sister, Lillian Claire Getzewich of Minneapolis Minnesota; three nephews, Charles Sadler and his wife Kelly of Minneapolis, James Sadler and his wife Chaya of Plano, Texas, Graham Sadler and his wife Holly of Minneapolis. Michael is also survived by his cousins, Barbara Ellis of Bloomfield, CT, Sherry Pierson Lewis and her spouse JB of East Hartford, CT, Darlene Sherman and her husband Chad of Manassas, Virginia, Leslie E. Henry and spouse Wes Hacking of New York, NY, and Carolyn H. Rader and her spouse Jeff of Decatur, Georgia.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations to either, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163 or Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis, 460 Totten Pond Road, Ste. 420, Waltham, MA 02451, in Michael's memory would be greatly appreciated.
