Mertie "Mert" E. Lindsey Caddy resident of Bolton Ct. since Oct. 1950 passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Theodore R. Caddy died Jan.13, 1999. She was born in Rockland, Maine Jan.19,1921 to Fred C. Lindsey Jr. & Marion I. Newborg Lindsey. Mertie is survived by two daughters & husbands, Lois & Walter Lawrence of Vernon and Linda & John Lockward of Amston. Seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, Mark & Jodi Lawrence and children Andrew, Shaun, & Skylar of Manchester, Scott & Kathy Lawrence and children Zachary, Ryan & Paige of Colchester, Kim & Jonathan Zupnik and children Sarah & Kaitlynn of San Diego, CA. Jason & Nicole Lawrence and children Cameron & Nathan of Stafford Springs, Michael & Carolyn Lockward and children Lauren & Morgan of Tolland, Todd & Eilis Lockward of Bolton, Erin Lockward & Chris Brooks of Flagstaff, AZ., her brother Dale and wife Jean Lindsey of Scarbrough, Maine. She was predeceased by a daughter Sandra and a son Glenn, two brothers Hugh, and Curtis Lindsey, three sisters Bernice Andralouis, Lois Harvey, and Marion Watts. Mertie graduated from Rockland High School in1938. She worked at Bath Iron Works covering pipes on Destroyers from 1943-1945, Kings Dept. Store, Iona Manufacturing and Pratt and Whitney in manufacturing Eng. office retiring in 1983. A former member of Manchester Square Dance Club, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, and traveling with her husband's 456th WWII Bomb Group reunions to Italy, Hawaii and across America. They also traveled with the Square Dance group to Bermuda and to the Bahamas. She loved going to her grandson's wedding in Ireland. The family would like to thank the staff at the Residence at South Windsor Farms, for their great care and making Mom feel at home, and the staff of Vitas Hospice. A Memorial Service will be Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Bolton United Methodist Church 1041 Boston Turnpike (Rt.44) Bolton. There are no calling hours. A private burial will be in St. George Cemetery, St. George, Maine at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bolton United Methodist Church.
