Maura M. Lucius

Maura McGuire Lucius passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021. She was born on Great Diamond Island, Portland, Maine, on July 11, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Colonel Maurice J. McGuire and Esther (Jackson) McGuire and is predeceased by her loving husband Paul. J. Lucius. Since her father was a career Army Officer, Maura lived in many places as a child, eventually settling in Manchester, CT where she graduated Manchester High School class of 1952. She attended Annhurst College in South Woodstock, CT and graduated Manchester Community College in 1984. Maura worked for over 30 years as Legal Secretary/Paralegal for Bayer. Phelan & Squatrito of Manchester and their successor firms. She had a lifelong love of animals, enjoyed walking, reading, movies, watching figure skating athletes compete, and East Catholic and UConn Womens Basketball games. She was predeceased by three of her best friends, Betty Johnson, Patricia Flanagan and Joan Higgins. Calling hours will be at the Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Church in Manchester at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 7. A separate burial will take place on Saturday, July 10 at 10:00AM in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
