Mary (Mason) Samuelson, 103, lifelong resident of Manchester, CT and loving wife and companion for 76 years of Robert E. Samuelson, died Friday August 10, 2018 at a local convalescent home.
Mary was born in Manchester on March 9, 1915, daughter of Samuel and Alice Mason. She was raised on the East Side and attended Nathan Hale School. She graduated from Manchester High School with the Class of 1934 and married Bob in April of 1942. While raising her children she was a volunteer with the local Girl Scout and Boy Scout organizations.
She was a longtime member of South United Methodist Church, was a real pro at quilting, and volunteered over 4000 hours with the Manchester Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Penny Saver Thrift Store.
With her husband Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Paul Molava of Hilton Head, SC, and three nieces and their husbands, Nancy and Pete Seaman of East Haddam, CT, Judy and Tom Ryan of Annandale, VA, and Betsy and Steve Schulthess of Exeter, NH. Mary was predeceased by her son, Robert M. Samuelson, and her sister, Alice M. Richmond.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 28, at 12:30 PM at the Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. A visiting time will be from 11:30 AM until the time of the service.
