Mary Lou Prentice, 90, of Glastonbury, daughter of the late James and Ruth Wright Prentice, died at home on October 5, 2023. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Prentice and Betty Tomlinson, and a nephew John Fox. Mary Lou is survived by a niece Shelia Fox of Ivoryton and 2 nephews, Lee and Dana Fox of Virginia, Ronald Whiteside of Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland who has been like a son to her. Phyllis Dunn of Columbia, Ct. who was like her other little sister, several special cousins, and many wonderful friends. She was a graduate of Glastonbury High School and employed by Travelers Insurance Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Travelers Retirees Club, The Salvation Army Prime Timers, and the Red Hat Society. She was a great lover of animals, her favorite being a goat named Suzette and dogs Sally and Heidi. Marylou was known as the Mum Lady in the middle of the 1970s and middle of the 1980s growing many beautiful chrysanthemums. She will be greatly missed by her many friends that she was always helping. Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, Ct. is in care of the arrangements. Calling hours are on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 10AM to 11:30 AM. A funeral service at the funeral home to be held from 11:30 AM to 12PM. Burial will be at East Cemetery, Manchester following the funeral service.
