Mary Carroll Kennedy of Manchester, Connecticut passed away on December 23, 2023.
Born to Gertrude Sexton Carroll and Patrick Frances Carroll on February 28, 1943 in Stamford, Connecticut. Mary attended Saint James School, The Mount, graduated from Boston College School of Education and received a Masters Degree from University of Hartford. Mary began her career in education teaching at Eli Terry Elementary School in South Windsor, Connecticut. She then served as Director of Project Concern, one of the first voluntary school desegregation programs in the United States. After retiring from that program, she worked for The Capitol Region Education Council in Hartford, Connecticut. Mary also served on the Board of Directors of The Committee for Ulster Justice. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. James P. Kennedy in 2021. She leaves her two sisters, Gertrude Carroll Burke of Pocasset, Massachusetts and Anita Carroll-Weldon of Lincoln, Rhode Island; nephew and nieces Eileen Carroll, Patrick Carroll and Theresa Hill, all of Manchester; Colleen Michaud of South Windsor, Connecticut; Sean Carroll of North Kingston, Rhode Island, Kevin Carroll of Milton, Massachusetts and Jonathan Burke of Pocasset, Massachusetts.
Mary will be interred in Saint Bridgets Cemetery in Manchester, Connecticut. Funeral services will be private.
