Mary L. (Valente) Guminiak, 90, of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late Teddy F. Guminiak, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2016 after a brief illness. Mary was born on December 10, 1925 in Milo, Maine daughter of the late Paul and Lois Alta (Clement) Valente. She was raised in Maine, attended local schools and had resided in East Hartford for over 70 years. Prior to her retirement in 1989, Mary was employed for over 25 years with the Travelers Insurance Company. She enjoyed spending her summers at the family cottage in Gouldsboro, Maine with her brothers, sisters, their families and friends. Mary is survived by her four children; Nancy Sluboski and her husband Mark of South Windsor; Patricia Hills and her husband Randy of Andover; John Guminiak and his wife Penny of East Hartford and Michael Guminiak and his wife Lori of Vernon; her nine special grandchildren; Jessica Burrill and her husband Christian and their children Benjamin and Eli; Laura Vaida and her husband Joseph; Kara Nelsen and her husband Dan and their son William; Kristopher Hills and his wife Laura and their son Jaxson; Brittany Hills, Adam Guminiak, Kasey Guminiak, Kelsey Guminiak and Jared Guminiak. Mary also leaves her sister; Georgia Hall, three brothers; Lewis Valente, Orrin Valente and Virgil Valente and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by two grandchildren; Kaitlyn Hills and Correy Hills, her sister; Angela Byther and a brother; Henry Valente. Family and friends are welcome to attend calling hours on Saturday, April 30, from 3-5 pm at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford, at the convenience of the family.
