Mary Virginia (Ginny) Coffin Johnson

Mary Virginia (Ginny) Coffin Johnson was born in 1929 and passed on April 12, 2025.

Ginny was born in Bangor Maine, but, lived most of her life in Connecticut. Ginny graduated with the class of 1948 from William H. Hall High in West Hartford, Connecticut. She went on to graduate from Mt. Ida Junior College at Newton, Massachusetts in 1950. Shortly after her graduation she married World War II Veteran Eugene Lyman Johnson who predeceased her in 1957. Their children are Windham State Representative and Attorney Susan Johnson and retired Department of Transportation employee, Dwight Johnson. Ginny adored her children and worked tirelessly as a single mother of two little ones to be sure they had all they needed.

Ginny continued her strong devotion and adoration to the little ones in her family as a grandmother (Leslie O’Brien, husband Anthony Kydd) and great grandmother (Katharine Rose Kydd and Margaret Louisa Kydd).

Ginny’s son in law is retired Windham Probate Judge Dennis O’Brien. Her sister, Marilyn Joyce Hanford Goravitch is a retired teacher from the Berlin, Connecticut public school system who is married to Joseph Goravitch who she lives with in Florida. Ginny was predeceased by her sisters Margaret Coffin Aubrey who lived in Florida and Gloria Haskell who lived in Maine.

Ginny worked at the Institute of Living as a Psychiatric Technician for 25 years. She was a member for 50 years of The Order of the Eastern Star Hope Chapter # 60, in south Windsor Connecticut, and The Hartford Assembly #9 Order of the Rainbow Girls.

Funeral Arrangements were made by Holmes & Watkins Funeral Home of Manchester Connecticut. Calling Hours will be held on April 26th at Holmes Watkins Funeral Home (400 Main Street, Manchester CT) from 9am till 10:30am with a Funeral Home Service between 10:30am till 11am. Burial will take place immediately afterwards at East Cemetery at 220 East Center Street, Manchester CT.
