Marsha Ann Danahy

July 3, 1952 — December 2, 2015

Another star has joined the heavens as Marsha (Sault) Danahy, 63, of Manchester passed on to join her husband of 34 years, Robert, who died in 2007. After defying all odds and battling cancer with extraordinary tenacity for nearly four years, Marsha found her peace on Dec. 2, 2015, at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Marsha was born in Manchester on July 3, 1952, to the late Clifford and Marion Sault. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her children: Timothy Danahy and Amy Marques and her husband, Michael. More than anything, Marsha loved her role as "Nana" to her beloved grandchildren, Coby, Jackson and Autumn, who were her most spirited supporters and always brought her a smile. She is also survived by a brother, Allan, and his wife, Joan, and several nieces and nephews. Marsha's love was infectious and widespread and she was cherished by those who knew her. She was quick with a smile and had a knack for sending a heartfelt note of encouragement, love or silliness at exactly the right time. In recent years, she embraced Jen, Patrick and Sean Chapman and welcomed them into the special fold of her family through both good times and bad. Marsha understood what a treasure a true friend is, and found hers in her favorite neighbor Cindy King, with whom she enjoyed many movie dates, heart-to-heart conversations, laughs and adventures. Their friendship was dear to Marsha's heart, and she cherished the time they spent together. Throughout Marsha's battle with cancer she showed extraordinary spirit and continually amazed Dr. Kapoor and the caring staff at DeQuattro Cancer Center. She especially looked forward to her visits with Danielle Marenco. Marsha and Danielle's relationship went beyond patient and caregiver, and Danielle's loving support sustained her through the most difficult of times. The family is truly thankful for the care and concern shown by the 2East nursing staff during Marsha's stay at the hospital. We cannot offer enough gratitude or respect to Patty Albrecht and the entire Hospice staff for their patience, support and guidance for us all. For those who knew Marsha, the world has dimmed with her passing. But her love and light will shine through to us in the warmth of the sunshine, the sound of ocean waves, the sight of a frog on a rock, glorious sunsets, and the quirky moments in life that bring an unexpected smile. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. There will be a memorial service on Friday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at East Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
