Marjorie B. St. George

Marjorie (Brown) St. George, 84, of Enfield, beloved wife of 63 years to Roger L. St. George passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at home. Marjorie was born on September 25, 1930 in Manchester, daughter of the late Elliott and Grace (Vaughan) Brown. She was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and was a graduate of MHS, Class of 1948. Marjorie had been a resident of Enfield since 1956. Prior to her retirement in 1994 she was employed as a buyer's clerk with Kaman Aerospace in Bloomfield. Marjorie conducted the school census in Enfield and the surrounding towns for many years. She was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America for several years. Marjorie was a former member of the Rainbow Girls and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. Marjorie shared her creations with family members and by donating them to churches and others as gifts. She loved her family and had a zestful way about her. She loved going to the casino, playing cards, ballroom and square dancing and spending the holidays with family and making merriment. In addition to her husband Roger, she is survived by her son, William St. George of Enfield, her two daughters; Phyllis St. George of Springfield, MA and Liza Maynard and her husband, Wayne of Enfield, her two grandchildren, Shaun Maynard and his wife, Nicole and Amy Maynard and her pride and joy, great-grandson, Michael Maynard. Her dear niece, Carol Newbury, her cousin, Gwen Cordes, her sister-in-law, Sue Brown and many other precious nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters; Jean Newbury and Grace England and her four brothers; Elliott, Robert, Richard and Herbert Brown. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 9th from 6-8 pm at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. Funeral services will be on Wed. June 10th at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be private in East Cemetery Manchester at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 12 Charter Oak Place, Hartford, CT 06106 or to the Hazardville United Methodist Church, 330 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082.
