Marjorie Marte

Marjorie Marte, 91, of Manchester and Giants Neck Beach died peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016 at a local convalescent home. She was born on June 30, 1924 in Manchester daughter of the late Louis and Gladys (Rising) Marte. Marjorie attended local schools and was a 1942 graduate of Manchester High School. She then earned her degree from the former Westbrook Junior College. Marjorie was employed for many years as a Medical Secretary. She was a great traveler, visiting many spots in Europe and the U.S. In her later years Marjorie especially enjoyed bicycling and walking around Giants Neck and visiting with her many friends and acquaintances there. Marjorie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law; Paul and Sally Marte of Block Island, RI, her two nephews; Paul Marte Jr. of Hartford and Peter Marte and his wife Rochelle and their children; Hannah and Cooper of College Park, GA and her niece; Susan Marte and her husband Bryan Sweet of Coffs Harbour, Australia. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Fenwood / Crestfield for the capable and loving care given to Marjorie over her time there. There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be in East Cemetery, Manchester at a date and time to be announced. Holmes Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements.
