Marjorie (Abramson) Lappen, 81, of Manchester, passed away on October 1 at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Lappen, her son, Steven Lappen, both of Manchester, and her sister, Patricia Black of Enfield. She is survived by her sons, Paul and Thomas Lappen, both of Manchester, her sister, Beverly Kranz of Bristol, and her brother, Wallace Abramson of Plantsville.
A native of Pawtucket, RI she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Mildred (Snow) Abramson and lived for many years in Hartford and Manchester. For nearly 30 years, she was the owner of Your Business Office, a Manchester company that did accounting and bookkeeping for other small companies that don't have their own "office". A few years ago, in a move toward retirement, she closed her East Center Street office, and brought a couple of small clients home. For the first time in many years, earlier this year, she spent the day at Ocean Beach Park in New London. She fell in love with the beach, and it was now her favorite place in the world. She also enjoyed watching the wild ducks that visited her backyard, every winter, all winter, looking for food.
Memorial calling hours will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Monday, October 6, at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester. A prayer service will be held Tuesday October 7 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be private in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
