Marjorie Grace (McCormick) Broderick, 97, of Vernon, formerly of Manchester, died peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Manchester. Marjorie was born on February 15, 1920 in Hartford, daughter of the late Harry and Sophie (Strauss) McCormick. She was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and had been a resident of Manchester until moving to Vernon in 1986. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was employed as Receptionist for Allied Printing Services Inc. Marjorie was a former member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Manchester. Marjorie was a woman of grit and grace. She was an excellent athlete in school and continued her love for sports in her support of the UConn Women's Basketball team as an avid fan. She held her own in the corporate world as one of the only working women while tirelessly caring for her husband's mother and cousin in her own home, supporting her husband's business and raising her two daughters. She loved to dance and was a regular participant in Welles Country Village's Variety Shows. She was a lover of books which she passed on to many in her family. She is survived by her two daughters; Pamela Broderick and her husband Roger Fisher of Winter Harbor, ME and Laurie May and Daniel Tricarico of Manchester, five loving grandchildren; Melina Usher, Barrett Quaglia, Lindy Quaglia, Etta Jo O'Reilly and her spouse Marlaina, Fiona Willis and her husband Mark, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her two brothers, Robert & Wilson McCormick. Family and friends are welcome to attend a time of visitation at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 10-11 am with a service at 11 am at the funeral home.
