Mario W. Diana, 83, of Manchester, beloved husband of Judy R. (Ranieri) Diana, died peacefully Friday, October 31, 2014 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Mario was born May 5, 1931 in Manchester, son of the late Leo & Angeline (Mistretta) Diana, he attended local schools graduating from Manchester High School. He went on to Barber School and was the owner of the Pine Barber Shop at 656 Center St. in Manchester where he worked until his retirement in 1996. Mario served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Manchester Army & Navy Club, he was a communicant of St. James Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Campbell Council # 573. Mario loved to be outdoors, he was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra music. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by three children and five grandchildren: Leonard M. Diana and his wife Dawn of Hartford; Dr. Mary G. Diana of Poughkeepsie, NY, and her sons, Alex, Nick and Daniel; Judith D. Kupferschmid and her husband Timothy of New Fairfield and their children, Nathan and Lauren. Other survivors include his Aunt Rose Lumbruno of Manchester, sisters-in-law Gloria and Jacquelyn Diana of Manchester, Mary Nimkoff of New York, NY., and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family. Mario was predeceased by his brothers, Vincent Diana, Leo Diana and William Diana. Services will be held Tuesday Nov. 4, 2014 with calling hours from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
