Marie Eileen (Jacques) Matarazzo, 71 of Vernon, loving wife for thirty years of Thomas Matarazzo, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at her home after an extended illness.
Eileen was born in Hartford on May 27, 1944, daughter of the late Alfred and Cecile (Berard) Jacques. She was raised in Hartford, resided in Glastonbury for many years, and then spent time between Florida and Connecticut before moving to Vernon seven years ago. Eileen had been employed as a nurse coordinator for Roncalli Heath Care. She had many hobbies that included cake decorating, jewelry making, and baking. Nobody ever left her house with an n empty stomach, she enjoyed crocheting slippers to give to family and friends at Christmas, recently she made and donated slippers for the babies and children at the Children's Hospital.
With her husband Tom, Marie is survived by four daughters, Karen Agnew of East Hartford, Lisa Guffey of Holton, KS; Julie Madore and her husband Rodney of Marlborough, and Denise Schroll of Manchester; a brother and sister, Fred Jacques and his wife Laura of Cromwell and Lena Ganley of Maryland; six grandchildren, Derek and Carrie, Amanda and Meghan, Danielle and Chantel; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Lamoureux.
Her family would like to thank the staff and caregivers from the Visiting Nurse Assoc. in Vernon for all the care and kindness they gave to Eileen and her family.
A prayer service will be held Friday, Mar. 18, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester. Visiting hours are Thursday, Mar. 17, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
