Margery H. Longley

Margery (Holmes) Longley, 64 of Manchester, accepted her Creator's invitation to join him for everlasting peace and love on Friday, November 14, 2014 after a lengthy and courageous battle with leukemia. She had previously lived in East Hartford and was the daughter of her late parents, John and Eleanor (Bacon) Holmes. Marge graduated from East Hartford High School and Manchester Community College before working as a legal secretary for the Connecticut Attorney General's Office where she met her loving husband of forty years, Donald M. Longley. After raising her beloved daughters, she also worked as a medical records secretary for Genesis in Manchester. Marge was a communicant of St. James Church in Manchester and a member of the church Mother's Circle.
In addition to her husband, Marge is survived by her daughter Erin Szegda and her husband Michael of Hebron, her daughter Meredith Longley of Manchester, her brother John Holmes of East Hartford, and her precious grandson Michael of Hebron. Numerous cousins also survive Marge. She especially appreciated the close relationship she had with her cousins, Kathy and John Bacon, who were so consistently supportive during her long illness.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 - 8 pm on Tuesday, November 18, at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 19, at 10:00 am at St. James Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester followed by burial in the East Cemetery, 240 East Center Street, Manchester.
