Margaret R. Churchill

January 11, 1937 — March 17, 2021

Margaret (Marge) Churchill passed away on March 17, 2021, in Waterbury, CT. She was born in Oklahoma on January 11, 1937. She started teaching Home Economics at Bennett Middle School in Manchester. She then transitioned to Special Education, which she continued after moving to Manchester High School where she worked until retiring. After her teaching years, she wintered in Ft. Pierce, FL., at Tall Pines Mobile Home Park. In Florida, she was the HOA President and a big contributor to the Pioneer Club. She did the cookie exchanges, poker runs, and Christmas House Tours. In Manchester, she was a long-time employee of Al Seiferts Appliance Store. She quickly mastered the newly invented microwave and wrote a column for the Manchester Herald called Microwave Kitchen. Marge was a great cook and baker. She loved her oysters and wine. Marge served for many years on the board of the Northeast Federal Credit Union. She was an outstanding seamstress, artist, and crafts person. She was a generous and kindhearted person who would go out of her way for anybody in need. She had a heart for the underdog. Marge had three beloved residences and a great love for her flowers, so much so that she transported them in her own vehicle between homes. Besides her home in Florida, she lived in Manchester, CT, where she was a Justice of the Peace who loved doing weddings, she also volunteered with the Democratic Party in Manchester and was a generous supporter along with many other charities. Marge also had a house on Bickford Pond in Maine. She loved her loons, hummers, and flowers. She did not like snakes and was a crack shot. Marge leaves her dear friends: Phil, Karen, Todd Gambino, Nicole Gambino and Doreen Gambino Melendez of Waterbury. CT. Her gathering of friends will take place on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT 06040, from 10:00 am -11:00 am with burial to follow in the East Cemetery.
