Maresa H. Gilroy's Obituary

Maresa H. Gilroy, a cherished and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on February 15, 2026, in Vernon, Connecticut. Maresa's life journey began on October 1, 1932, in Oneonta, New York, where she was born to the late Leon and Maude (Slocum) Hosler. Her warm smile and generous spirit were a beacon of light to all who knew her.

Maresa's life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to her family and her faith. She was a proud graduate of her local high school and took her role as a homemaker seriously, creating a loving and nurturing environment in her home. Maresa's love story was a rich tapestry, woven with the memory of her first husband, Roscoe Easton, and her second husband, William Gilroy, both of whom had predeceased her.

A woman of deep faith, Maresa was an active and beloved member of the Community Baptist Church. Her involvement in the church was not just a reflection of her belief but also an extension of her commitment to service and community. Maresa's faith was her compass, guiding her through life's challenges and joys. She was also a proud member of The Order of The Eastern Star and her commitment to community showed clearly through her works there for a stunning 72 years.

Maresa's interests went beyond her home and church as she joyfully engaged with life and those around her. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt by her family, including her daughter, Maresa Slater, from Vernon, Connecticut and son, Ross Easton, from Denmark, Maine. The legacy of Maresa's kind spirit, passion for life, and zest for love will live on through them and the many loved extended family members who will continue to honor her memory.

Maresa's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of faith, and the importance of family. She faced life's challenges with grace and emerged with a sense of joy and gratitude that was infectious to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life's work may have been centered within the walls of her home, but the impact of her love and kindness was felt far beyond.

In the quiet moments, we will find solace in the memories we shared with Maresa, and in the knowledge that she lived a life full of purpose and love. Let us hold tight to the memories and let them be a source of comfort and strength as we navigate the days ahead without her. Maresa H. Gilroy will be profoundly missed, but her light will never fade.
