Luz M. Sanchez Rodriguez, 85, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Puerto Rico on December 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Nicolas Sanchez and Carmen Rodriguez.

Luz was a wonderful and loving grandmother whose family was always her greatest priority. Her maternal presence was felt across generations, and she served as a role model to many in her family, demonstrating what it meant to be both strong and gentle. She had a special way of showing her love through cooking, bringing family and friends together around a meal and creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. Luz also loved celebrating life and expressed her joy through dancing. Her warmth, kindness, and love for those around her made her a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Migdalia Maldonado, Felix Cruz, Lillian Cruz, Edwin Cruz, and Judith Sanchez; her grandchildren, Angelica and her husband, Michael Jurczyk, Erica Sanchez, and Carlos Guzman; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Luz was predeceased by her sons, Javier Cruz and Johnny Cruz, and her grandson, Angel Maldonado.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT 06040. A time of remembrance will follow at 6:30 p.m.

Luz will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her love, strength, and gentle spirit will live on through the generations of family she touched and the many memories she created with those she loved.
