Lucija Garnelis

Lucija (Lucy) Rasma Garnelis, 84, left this world on February 12, 2021 and joined her loving husband, Janis (John) Garnelis. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She came to American with her mother, sister, brother and grandmother in September of 1951. Lucy survived the Soviet Occupation of Latvia during World War II. She was known to tell many stories of her life experiences in Latvia and her journey to the United States, always making the family laugh and smile. Lucy shared her lifelong love of bingo with her friends and family. She was a loving and devoted grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren. Lucy is survived by her sister, Velta of New York, two children, Linda Garnelis of Mystic and Robert Garnelis of Florida and her special daughter in law, Diane Garnelis of Maine, her three beautiful grandchildren, Kyle, Brittany (Jennifer) and Bonsa and many nieces and nephews. Lucy was predeceased by her brother, George. Due to COVID health concerns, all services will be private. A celebration of her life will be announced in the future.
