Lorraine E. (Smith) Peterman, 92, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Barney T. Peterman Sr. passed away Friday May 1, 2015 at Manchester Manor. Lorraine was born in Manchester March 5, 1923, daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Rogers) Smith. She was raised in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School Class of 1941A. After high school she married Donald Madden who was killed on the Juneau in WWII. They had a daughter Donna born shortly after his death. She later met Barney Peterman Sr. and had two more children, Kathleen and Barney Jr. Lorraine was a longtime member of South United Methodist Church. She was proud of her town and its history. She worked at the Historical Society, the hospital auxiliary and the Manchester Beautification Committee. A lover of nature and music she passed it on to grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of her home, her garden and her beautiful pond, loved and rescued animals. She always had an interest in collecting antiques and did shows under the name of "Redwing Antiques". She leaves two daughters, Donna and husband, Bruce Forde of Manchester, Kathleen and Malcolm Kerr of Vernon, a son, Barney T. Peterman Jr. of Manchester, three grandchildren, Kristen (Forde) Tinney and her husband, John, Mindy (Forde) Burke and her husband, Paul and Brendan Peterman, also four great-grandchildren who have been very attentive during her last years, Ryan Tinney, Sarah Burke, Jenna Burke and Kyle Burke. We all will miss her. A Memorial Service will be Friday May 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at South United Methodist Church 1226 Main Street Manchester. Burial will be private in East Cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday, May 7, from 4-7 PM at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester.
