Loren E 'Nellie' Nelson

Loren E. "Nellie" Nelson,86, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Constance A. (Pouliott) Nelson, died unexpectedly Monday August 24, 2015 at his home. Loren was born January 8, 1929 in North Star Twp, MI., son of the late William C. "Clint" Nelson & Daisy (Biddinger) Nelson, he grew up in Michigan and had lived in Rhode Island before moving to Manchester 46 years ago. He was a retired Navy Veteran serving in W W II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and then worked for over 25 years as Manager of the Shell Food Mart on West Middle Tnpk in Manchester. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 102 in Manchester, he served as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Eight District Fire Dept. he was a fan of the UConn Woman's Basketball team, he enjoyed going to Flea Markets, deep sea fishing, rides in the car and spending time at his home in Florida. But his greatest joy was spending time with his two granddaughters. He is survived by his son Kevin G. Michaud and his wife Rachel of East Hampton, two granddaughters, Sarina and Sadie and three nieces in Michigan. He was predeceased by his sister Florence Smith. Funeral services will be held Friday August 28, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
