Lois E. (Sandberg) Ferrin, 97, wife of the late Earl G. Ferrin, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Vernon Rehabilitation and Health Center. She was born on April 21, 1927, daughter of the late Harry T. and Ethel (Fisher) Sandberg.
Lois grew up in East Glastonbury and attended the town's one room schoolhouse. In her teens, she began working at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft where she worked for 40 years. Upon her retirement, she took a job in retail and worked for many years for D & L Stores. Lois was a longtime member of South United Methodist Church in Manchester where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the local chapter of The Grange.
Lois enjoyed traveling with her family especially on the many trips they took together in their camper which they had converted from a school bus. She was also a talented cake designer who shared her craft with family and friends on many occasions throughout her life.
Lois is survived by her beloved daughter and caregiver, Sandra Ferrin, with whom she lived. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Kylie, and many nieces and nephews. Lois was predeceased by her two adored sons, David Ferrin and Gordon Ferrin, her brother, William Sandberg, and her sisters, Phyllis Gordon and Audrey St. Pierre.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Vernon Rehabilitation and Health Center for their care and support.
On Friday, August 16, 2024, friends and family may pay their respects from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main Street, Manchester, followed by Lois's Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to South United Methodist Church's Congregational Care Ministry.
