Linwood R. Clark

Linwood R. Clark 96, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Ruth (May) Clark passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 with his family by his side at Hartford Hospital. He was born March 15, 1919 in Palisade, NJ son of the late Harry S. and Violet (Johnson) Clark. Mr. Clark was a graduate of Fort Lee High School and the Peddi School in New Jersey. Linwood went on to attend Rensellaer Polytechnic Institute and the Academy of Aeronautics. He was a veteran of WW. II serving in the US. Army Air Corps. Mr. Clark was employed for over 30 years with United Technologies Corporation in Connecticut retiring in 1983 as a Domestic Risk Manager. He was an avid golfer, snow skier, vegetable gardener and his hobbies included sailing and building and flying model airplanes. Mr. Clark is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marlene Holman-Clark and Raymond Clark of Vernon, his son and daughter-in-law, Linwood R. Clark Jr. and Mary Ratti of Southport, NC, his four grandchildren; Koren Clark and her wife, Debbie Laird, Eric Holman and his children; Cory and Emma, Elyse Holman and Leah Bell and her children; Tyler and Ethan and his longtime dear friend, Mary Jane Watson of Manchester. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by his brother, William H. Clark and his sister, Doris Willard. Private services and burial will be in East Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hartford Hospital Fund Development, 80 Seymour St., PO Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06101-9960 for the benefit of the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center or to the Protectors of Animals, 144 Main St. East Hartford, CT 06118.
