Linda (Carpenter) Ryder of Ocala, FL, formerly of Connecticut, passed away peacefully to bluer skies and brighter clouds on July 8, 2015. She was born in Bath, Maine on October 4, 1946. She moved to Coventry, CT. in 1951, where she attended grammar school, and she also attended Manchester High School in Manchester, CT. She loved country music and was a member of the New England Western Dance Association. She looked forward to her trips to Maine for lobster dinners. She moved to Florida in 1992. She was a member of Meadowbrook Church in Ocala and among her many loves were seafood, angels, cruises, butterflies, jewelry and shoes.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Carpenter, her mother, Eleanor (Decker) Dyer, and her father, Frank Carpenter, all of Manchester, CT, and Dara Ryder of Ocala.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Ryder of Ocala; her son, Jeffrey Carpenter of Springfield, MA; two granddaughters, Isabelle and Brooke Carpenter, both of Springfield, MA; two sisters, Patricia Nivison of Colchester, CT and Sylvia Zaches of East Hartford, CT. She also leaves members of her extended family she loved as her own, Gerald L. Ryder of Cherry Valley, MA, Pamela Corriveau, Roger Ryder, Donna Arcoite all of Southbridge, MA, Jennifer Cummings of Charlton, MA, and Derek Vallee, Devan Kikendall and Debra Ryder all of Ocala, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 12:00 PM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, with burial to follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of CT, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
