Lillian Anne (Jones) Whiting, 85, resident of Manchester since 1955, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Anne was born in Hartford on August 23, 1930, daughter of Phillip and Sibley (Collum) Jones and was raised in West Hartford.
She was employed by the former House & Hale department store of Manchester and retired from M & M Oil Company in Bolton after sixteen years of service. Anne was a longtime member of the Center Congregational Church, a former member of the church's Mothers Club, a former Sunday school teacher, and was a past president of the Manchester W.A.T.E.S.
She is survived by her daughter and five sons, E. Carolyn Lindsay of South Windsor, Wallace B. Whiting of Santa Rosa, CA, George R. Whiting of Waterford, David A. Whiting of Manchester, Timothy M. Whiting of Indianapolis, IN, and Harold A. Whiting Jr. of Manchester; sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, her sister, Marjorie Williams of Atlanta, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 19 at 9:30 AM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford. Visiting hours are Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.
