Lillian T. Anderson

September 1, 1924 — March 13, 2025

Lillian (Theriault) Anderson (100) of Manchester, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025. She was born on September 1, 1924, in Fort Kent, Maine, and was the oldest daughter of Joseph and Eva (Babin) Theriault, who had 14 children. She was predeceased by her husband Carl G. Anderson, 6 of her siblings, and son-in-law Neil Jewell. She grew up in potato country where she and her sisters helped their mom with their large French-Canadian family, while her father and brothers were outdoorsmen hunting, fishing, and working the land. Her father's family can be traced back to the 16th century, when his ancestors emigrated from France to Quebec.
With the onset of World War Two she moved south to Connecticut and worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. Later she waitressed at a diner in the Burnside section of town. There she met Carl, married, became a mom, and raised her 3 children - Peter (and wife Mary) of Peaks Island, Maine, Edmund (and wife Marguerite Sellinger) of Newburyport, Massachusetts, and Ila Anderson-Jewell of Manchester, Connecticut.
Lil loved to cook - baked beans, pies, gravies, pea soup, and delightful meals for her family, relatives, and friends. Often these were usually followed by the grownups playing poker, while the young ones tried to stay out of trouble. These card games were a hoot with constant banter in French, English, and a combination of the two. Great desserts always followed. Later she moved on to Bingo and eventually trips to the slot machines at casinos with Ed and Ila. In addition to these games of chance, she loved the New York Yankees and watched her favorite men faithfully - John Wayne, Tom Selleck, Mark Harmon, and her favorite - Derek Jeter.
In addition to her surviving siblings and children, she leaves behind 5 grandchildren (Katie, Matt, Chris, Emily, and Lucie), and 3 great grandkids (Emery, Cole, and Sam) who she adored. The family would like to thank the staff at Manchester Manor for the excellent care they provided while Lillian resided there.
Calling Hours will be held at Holmes Watkins Funeral Home located at 400 Main St. in Manchester from 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday, March 24th 2025.
