Leo R. Gagne a 38 year resident of Vernon died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at age 83. He was the husband of Trudy (Meyer) Gagne for 42 years. Leo was born in Berlin, NH, son of the late George Gagne and Mary (Johnston) Gagne. He attended area schools and graduated from Berlin High School in 1953. Leo was a proud veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Leo moved to Connecticut in 1961. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 34 years retiring in 1994. Upon retiring he worked at Southern Auto Auction for 14 years. He and Trudy enjoyed camping, refinishing furniture and long Sunday rides in his Cadillac. Leo & Trudy were faithful followers of the UConn Women's Basketball team. Besides his wife, he is survived by a step-daughter Jane Carter of Vernon, a step-son William Carter II. of Tolland, 6 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his good friend Claude Lebel of New Hampshire. Leo was predeceased by 3 brothers, George, John and Joseph Gagne, his sister Margaret Manley and his very dear aunt Grace "Dee" Johnston. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St, Manchester from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10:30 am at the funeral home followed burial with military honors in Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls Road in Vernon.
