Laura L. Fish

Laura L. (Mathiason) Fish, 96, of Manchester beloved wife of the late Elliott E. Fish, passed away at her home Friday, November 13, 2015 with her family at her side. Laura was born in Manchester May 8, 1919, daughter of the late Oscar and Martha (Wagner) Mathiason and was a lifelong resident. Laura is survived by her loving family, three sons, Bruce Fish and his wife, Joyce of Bolton, Steven Fish and his wife, Linda of Andover and Donald Fish and his wife, Janice of Sugar Grove, OH. She was lovingly known as "mimfie" to her seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Laura also leaves several nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, June Fuller and two brothers, Russell and Harry Mathiason. Laura graduated from Manchester High School and prior to retiring was employed at Travelers Insurance Company, Hartford. She was also a member of Center Congregational Church. Laura's strength, independence and work ethic was a constant source of inspiration. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed many camping trips with her family to Vermont and New Hampshire. But above all she will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren for her many sacrifices, support and undying devotion. Her family would like to thank her caregiver and close friend Princess Dorcas Aduhene for her kind and compassionate care for the past five years as well as the Visiting Nurses of North Central Hospice. A memorial service will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 11:00 am at Center Congregational Church, 11 Center St. Manchester. Burial will be private in East Cemetery, Manchester.
