Knoxie (Long) Mundell, 90, of Southwick, MA, formerly of Manchester, CT, beloved wife of the late Carl W. Mundell passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born on April 23, 1925 in Burkesville, Kentucky daughter of the late John Long and Dora Spears Long. In addition to raising her family, Knoxie worked outside of the home as a cook for several area nursing homes and the Hockanum Valley Day Care Center in Vernon. She was a member of and actively involved with the Community Baptist Church in Manchester, she particularly enjoyed her Joy Circle friends and looked forward to working on the annual rummage sale. She and her late husband Carl enjoyed working together on the annual Easter morning breakfast which was served after sunrise service. Knoxie was a member and past officer of T.O.P.S as well as a member of the Manchester Area Conference of Churches. Her garden was a source of pride and joy, nothing was as good as a tomato from Knoxie's garden. Her garden was also the source of many of the delicious meals she prepared for her family. Whether called Mom, Grams, Gramma, or Meme, her love of her children carried to the next generations. She found much joy and delight in spending time with her grandchildren. Knoxie welcomed everyone to her home and always made room to help someone in need, whether providing a room for a while or providing an extra plate at the table. After retirement, Knoxie and Carl toured the United States in their camper. From Acadia National Park to the Red Wood forests of Northern California, they visited all the sites in-between, that also included stops at the various towns she and Carl lived in during their 66 year marriage. She is survived by her five children; David Mundell and wife; Annette of Eatonton, GA, Patricia McMahon and husband; Michael of Southwick, MA with whom she made her home for the past 2 years, William Mundell of Monroe, GA, Elizabeth Tremblay and husband; Donald of Vernon and Michael Mundell and wife; Karen of Enfield, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
