Kathryn "Kay" (Dimlow) Mahoney, age 95 of Manchester, CT, loving wife for sixty-one years of Frederick L. Mahoney, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at a local convalescent home.
Kay was born in Broad Brook, CT on August 31, 1919, daughter of Edward J. and Mae (Bresnahan) Dimlow, and had resided in Manchester since 1955. She was a graduate of the former Ellsworth Memorial High School in South Windsor and the former McKeown Secretarial School in Hartford. Prior to retiring in 1984 she was employed in the executive department at the Travelers Insurance Company for twenty years. Previously she had been employed at WTIC Radio and WTIC Channel 3 for more than twenty years.
Kay was a member of MCCOAA (Manchester Community College Older Adults Assoc.), Irish-American Club, Traveler's Retiree's Club, and a communicant of St. Bridget Church. She had been a member of the Junior Women's Club, the League of Women Voters of Hartford, and served as an air raid warden during World War II.
Besides her husband she is survived by several nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by two brothers, Edward J. Dimlow, Sgt. Gordon Dimlow who was killed during WW II, and her lifelong friends, Evelyn Foley, Barbara Daly, and Anne Crowley.
A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, October 20, at 11:00 AM at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main Street, Manchester. There are no calling hours.
