Kathleen K. Scanlon

November 22, 1931 — February 22, 2016

Kathleen (Kelly) Scanlon passed away at home on February 22, 2016. Born in Philadelphia on November 22, 1931, she grew up in Hartford CT and was a 1949 Weaver High grad. She married her husband, Francis in September 1956 and had a wonderful life with him, although cut short, losing him at age 50 to a sudden illness.
She is survived by her sons Peter (Susan), Tom (Linda) and Todd (Peg), her brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Margaret Kelly, and her brother- in-law, James Hamill. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, her son, Barry, and her sisters, Helen and Ann-Marie. The loves of her life were her eight grandchildren: Doug, Emma, Tim, Jeff, Jenn, Megan, Mairead and Bridget and her nieces and nephews, Nancy Rosenbaum, Sharon Drago, Mike Kelly and Michael Hamill. She was blessed with many long time friends and her loving spirit was a blessing to many more, both young and old. If someone was in need, she wanted to help. Genesis 24:18
Kathy worked for the Town of East Windsor, Town Clerk's office, the Community Renewal Team, Warehouse Point, CT, where she was instrumental in establishing a hot lunch program for seniors, and the Connecticut Bureau of Collections until her retirement in 1992. Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She attended soccer games and school events whenever possible and always made birthdays and holidays special. She also enjoyed spending time with her dog, Paddy.
Visiting hours will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday February 26th at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Catherine's Church, 4 Windsorville Road, Broad Brook, CT on Saturday February 27th at
10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery. Charitable contributions in honor of her son, Barry, may be made to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation: npcf.us, MACC Charities. MACC-ct.org., or the Manchester Land Trust, manchesterlandtrust.org
